Well, everyone ... for a long time it was believed that the daughter of Jane Long was the first Anglo child -- born about 1820 -- to make her appearance in Texas. However, that designation has been questioned by the family of Mrs. Helen Dill Berryman, who was born ca. 1804 near Nacogdoches. The old Forest Hill Plantation -- built for Helen and her husband in the vicinity of Alto (Cherokee Co.) ca. 1847 -- once was a landmark. Does anyone know what its current condition might be?

Thank you,

Holly
