| Below is a wonderful gift to us from cyberspace and the website of Presidio La Bahia. Not only are many other links provided there through which to discover the history of our state, but also access to a web camera which photographs the Alamo .... at all hours of the day and night. Many probably are acquainted already with this online image, but I thought that it would be important to include it here.

A link to a live-view of the Capitol building in Austin may also be found on this web-page, but it doesn't appear to have been refreshed in quite some time. _________________ The woman of the frontier made the best of her situation, for she had developed a respect for the land that gave her freedom as well as the courage to live in it. ~~~ from the perspective of Anne Seagraves |

| There it is. No, I've never been there. The Alamo still gets a lot of visitors doesn't it?

| Lindsay ... we have kept this little Alamo view on our monitor screen off and on over the past few days, and it has been so heartening to see the people coming and going in an almost continuous stream throughout the waking hours. I've thought about how the patriots who gave their lives there would be proud and gratified that the visitors come, and that the Texas flag flies nobly above the shrine to freedom made hallow -- once again -- by their sacrifice.

| Yes, it is.
Last night, when viewing the live image of the Alamo, we saw that it was lit differently ~ in several colors. Does anyone know if this might be in honor of a special date or occasion?

| Might the special lighting have been in honor of the meeting of the General Council, which Donald W. Whisenhunt's 'Texas History Chronology' gives as having begun its sessions on November 14, 1835 .... and which is described briefly on this web-page?

We will be watching to see whether the colored spotlights again are shown tonight. If they are, I will call the Alamo tomorrow to find out why. _________________ The woman of the frontier made the best of her situation, for she had developed a respect for the land that gave her freedom as well as the courage to live in it. ~~~ from the perspective of Anne Seagraves |

| It turns out that the Alamo was lit in multi-colored spotlights, this past Wednesday night, in honor of Diabetes Awareness .... which extends through the month of November.
Does anyone know on which occasions this special spotlighting might likewise be used?
Also, I am in search of a deeper and cited discussion -- concerning the architectural state of Mission San Antonio de Velero at the time of its secularization -- than I have been able to find online thus far. Does anyone have suggestions .... whether to be found on the Web or in print?
Did recently order, 'The Alamo Mission: San Antonio de Valero, 1718-1793,' by Marion A. Habig. Might someone have experience with this book?
Thank you. _________________ The woman of the frontier made the best of her situation, for she had developed a respect for the land that gave her freedom as well as the courage to live in it. ~~~ from the perspective of Anne Seagraves |

| Are those all the soldiers that died? I found this on the other site.
"If they overpower us, we fall a sacrifice at the shrine of our country, and we hope posterity and our country will do our memory justice."
Colonel William Barrett Travis
