Hello, everyone.

Here is the link to a little family project that we've been working on .... wherein we have gathered together online some of the vintage photographs which we are blessed to archive. A few of the portraits were posed for in Texas and already have been posted here. Others have reached us from further afield but carry great charm.

We love these precious images from long ago and hope that you will enjoy looking through them, too.

Holly

We have been enjoying working with our found photos once again. Such a work really should be undertaken as a very LARGE group project .... as the more subjects, locales and photographers are brought online, the more missing pieces can surely be worked in to the visual -- and textual -- puzzle of our past.

A great resource and opportunity for engaging in just this is found here:

There, I happened upon this lovely CDV portrait, which features an unidentified woman photographed by J. T. Jones and D. J. Moffitt of Pilot Point (Denton County):

Again, one of the amazing things to me has been to see how quickly the innovation of photography -- and its practitioners -- spread almost to every nook and cranny of our state and land during the Reconstruction period.

Well, we have uploaded some more new-old photos to Treasured Views. One of these provides an adorable look inside a classroom of yore .... from back in the days when George Washington's likeness graced most every schoolroom wall. We have tried to read the date on the calendar also seen there -- along with any identifying information -- but to no avail. Another photo depicts a group of youngsters and their teacher dressed up (and 'hatted' up queen king ... with one hold-out clown ... if I remember correctly) for the noteworthy occasion of their group school portrait.

Both of these images are said to have come from a Texas family. Most likely, we will never be able to identify them, but then again, just maybe ....
