| Have any old newspapers been scanned and can be read online without searching for a name?
Thanks in advance, Madelyn |

| About the only on line source is the Dallas Morning News Archives. I also would like to see other papers converted from the existing microfilm to a digital format. I have been seeking the posibility of having the Houston Tri-Weelky Telegraph done but have estimated the cost to be in the range of $35,000.
How to get either a sponsor for this task or how to do it myself in a revinue generating project still escapes me.

| I had been uncertain of the answer to Madelyn's question, JRC. Thanks, and welcome.
Ancestry.com does have a limited set of Texas newspapers that may be browsed on their site. I saw tonight that they are offering a free, 14-day trial for new users.
From the financial information that you provided above, I can see why the Dallas Morning News charges what they do for out-of-city access to their archives. Might the Houston library/historical/genealogical societies assist you in your efforts to have the Tri-Weekly Telegraph digitized? You may already have contacted these groups, and of course, they probably are already strapped for money and man-hours. This is a big but very worthy project. The best of luck to you in your efforts.
