As many likely are aware, our cemeteries need extra tending-to following the heavy rains we have experienced in Texas over these past few months. Also, it is important to be cautious -- especially in regard to the little ones -- when visiting cemeteries containing heavy, older monuments at this time. Our neighboring cemetery, for example, contains a tall, beautiful stone marking the burial place of a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. Already somewhat unstable before the rains began, it now is quite loose and in danger of toppling over till the cemetery association is able to secure it. Just something to keep in mind.
