Hal and Dorothy Stall of the Texas Pickin Park in Fayetteville TX write …
On Saturday, Sept 6, 2008 the City of Fayetteville will celebrate being added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Fayetteville historic district features 345 contributing buildings recognized for their architectural and historical significance. Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the town square at the gazebo. The program includes the famous Gil Baca Polka Band, Czech singers and dancers, Winedale Singers and more. The chairman of Fayette County's Historical Commission has extended a special invitation for Texas Pickin' Park jammers to come and be a part of the festivities following the official dedication ceremonies. We are welcome at any time, but are urged to come and jam in the park from 3:00 pm on. This invitation is for Bluegrass bands as well as individuals. Y'all come and help us celebrate! 979-378-2753

The Event scheduled for Sept.6, 2008 will be a historic event for this quaint little town. I hope to be in attendance and perhaps many of the folks on this board will consider taking part or just attending. The drive from the Sugarland area where I live is about an hour. It is well worth the drive. A lot of people bring a their favorite chairs, a blanket and their lunch or snacks. The cafe's on the square or usually packed; however, worth the wait. It is really a fun time. visit the Chamber of Commerce in Fayetteville for info Bed and Breakfast and RV parking. We just go down for the day and drive home. So much fun.
