Dad and 'Peggy Sue' ~

Well, yeah ... I'm proud of Dad, and thrilled that he has this 'lady' of his dreams, as well as my lovely mom. Some may already have read Dad's love letter to Peggy Sue, but check out all the neat things that are going on with the Dallas Area Classic Chevys ~ and their rollin' history:
http://www.dallasclassicchevy.com/FeatureCar0605Vaughan.htm
By the way, classic vehicles are perfectly and legitimately 'womaned' by us ladies; it's not just a 'guy' thing to drive an old car I once had a '58 Ford and '57 Chevy Sedan in my nuclear family, in fact ~ and both at the same time. I have to admit, however, that I prefer driving an automatic -- whatever the vintage .... (vahroom ... purrrr ).
Also, Peggy Sue makes a lot of noise; she's almost a Yankee woman in temperament Mom, on the other hand, is one of those soft-spoken, 'belle' types.
Sorry to tell on ya'll, Dad ~ but I found you on the Internet lol

| Very pretty car. It's pretty amazing when you think of some cars that looked like you dad's and some of the others once you can see all rusted now in dumps on the side of the highway. Frank would like to do this but with a Corvette. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

| | Hello. I don't have much knowledge of Texas but I was born there and lived in Texas when I was a little kid. I'm just trying to remember all that and learn more. Very good site. |

| Will be away for a while ... painting a few leaves if God so blesses.
But I'll check in from time to time, as will dear Madelyn.

| Ah, thank you, dear ... but I am just coming to understand what it means to be a Texan/ Texian (at last!), finding myself inspired to defend and take pride in the actions of my ancestors and their compatriots; standing in opposition to those who rather would demean them.
A Texian and a Southerner ~ identity confirmed following many years of wayfaring.
Thanks, sweet lady ... always and ever ....

| Hi, Don Allen here. I'm a decendent of the Wills clan that founded Wills Point, TX and the Allen's who were settlers in the Rio Grande Valley during the bandit wars down there.
I too have completely stopped accepting the PC garbage that demeans my ancestors. I'm proud of the courage and grace that they showed and that permiated my upbringing.
I look forward to posting here. |

| Hello, Don, and welcome
Wills Point is a beautiful town and countryside ... the prairie transitioning there to bountiful woodlands. I am so honored to have this chance to greet a descendant of the pioneers who set down roots there.
And my own dear grandma (now passed to heaven above) told me of an unsettled period in the southern portion of our state and in the Southwest. For a time, in fact, she and her parents relocated to New Mexico so as to be nearer to family .... and were forced to take refuge behind boarded windows and sandbags (flour sacks?), in a community schoolhouse, while Pancho Villa made his raids across the countryside. Back they traveled to home and San Saba County.
Our family was here in Texas from the beginning -- by their reckoning -- and would be considered nowadays to have been horrendously un-PC. It is awfully easy to place such judgment on past generations when pondered safely from a desk, in a climate-controlled environment, with take-out available around the corner. But our ancestors? Oh, to have the chance to dust off their shoes, wipe their brows and laud their grit and courage!
Again, welcome!
